I'm Lily I'm Virginia I'm Larry and behind the scenes is James say hi James James hello hello okay so hey guys why are we starting a podcast well if you ever pick up a remote start searching for TV watching news on you name it or even surf the newsweb app it just follows bad news I I once I get counted uh the ratio is easily like ten to one if not higher for every 10 bad news um and the headline tend to be just bad news and I find it kind of sad that um also hearing people a lot of people are affected by bad news and they behave badly I do believe that we're really starving for good news yes um so I think this is the platform which I hope that and we work together hope to achieve is to bring more good news for people and raise the awareness of good news and also prompt people and promote people to do good work yes

anything to add no I'm just excited about it because I think it helps us to be very intentional about looking for good news because we that was what you're saying there is good news all around us every day now we just have to go look for it yes and share it so you know in addition to what's in the media today we're supplementing it to balance out the positives and the negatives so that people actually get a more well-rounded perspective and and that's a that's a really good point so why don't we share with our audience um what they can expect what's in this podcast what what can they expect what are the elements that we are planning for them our heart is really focusing on the common everyday hero right and really getting to share their story and the good and the bad because we all know sometimes you have to go through some ups and downs before there's a triumphant end to the story and so the formata in in our mind is that we will seek out those stories but then we will share the whole story when there's a platform people will seek us out because they have a good story to tell and we want people to be in the habit of telling good stories instead of passing all the negative news right yeah and also I think the good news is really all around us and we just need to raise our awareness and become sensitive the good news that just you know be tainted by bad news um you know it's like stop and smell the flowers right and instead of just drive by and uh I miss all the good stuff that's in your life right you know yeah and another thing that come to mind is that um maybe sometimes we just need that boost of positivity and have a platform that is full of positivity um is what we need we don't need to have to filter out the good and the bad and just just get some infusion of of goodness right all right so fess up who's the one who came up with the name hello world okay so you get to tell the world why does he name it hello world okay I'm a geek I'm a technology a programmer so if you're a programmer you know exactly what hello world it is hello world in the context of doing good it I find it also very meaningful because it also reintroduced the world around us back to us back to ourselves to say hey look at the world differently when you look at it differently ReDiscover the good that's all around us is now a different world your world view is going to be different your perspective it's going to be different and that's why I think it's important and the purpose of hello world is to reintroduce our audience bring them on a journey with us to ReDiscover a new world I love it reintroducing us to the world we already have but seeing it in such in a different perspective that reintroduction makes you want to go hello world so I buy it so what is the format going to be what can what can our viewers expect when they tune in uh yeah so so I think our thought was that you know really these stories are about everyday common folks right it doesn't it's not a uh you don't have to be the president you don't have to be a celebrity to be on this podcast right and the idea is every day something wonderful is happening around us we need to be intentional about looking for those good things good news to share uh whether it's you know all around us or whether we see it on the Internet or in the world wide web that we are really focusing and bringing that together for us and also for our um our viewers right because this is really you know I think in my mind it's a great way to start the day every day see the world kind of from this perspective yeah so you know we've been saying good good news goodness good this good that what is it that exactly we're talking about are there a few examples of good news that we're we're exploring or is there like what's the scope of good that we're talking about being geeky you know sure well I'll give you one really good example you know that will always go back and remember it brought such a joy it may seem like a trivial things for a lot of people but it meant so much and it really represented turning point for our daughter and uh when she graduated from school she doesn't know you know what she wanted to do and she came back on for a little while um I work with her try to give her some jobs as well but you know working for that is not nearly as fun as working you know for a big company um then I encourage her to not stop looking and and she had the time she had the time to search for herself and within herself exactly you know who she is what she really likes what's her passions she decided she want to be in she likes mathematics then she liked analyzing data and she on her own discoverer um that that is the field of data science and she found nearby at UT Austin if you're you know world renowned program of her own volition she applied and um when the result finally came back in um I came on that day not knowing what happened but she and your daughter Emily and my other daughter uh Kristen their hole up in the in the study glued to the computer looking for the result to come come back and I just heard first

it's called screeching yes so I ran upstairs and I thought you know do we have a burglar in the house they were just hugging each other jumping full of joy you know uh that Hannah did it I think everybody had a story like that to give us more encouragement and confidence especially in time that meet um and you know just hearing more about that not just our own story that we can share out but also care about other people's story now the other thing about that good news that I can glean from as well is that she's she's surrounded by her sister and her cousin that were genuinely so happy for her yeah so you know just the the love and being surrounded by your cheerleaders yeah um because you also hear a lot about selling rivalry or just you know bad relationships so that you know if we really want to go look for good news it's it's all in there and it's more than one more than one right yeah so yeah any other examples of good news we've got several on the horizon one that is near and dear to us as a close friend of ours to Johnson's and and they have started this ministry that really is uh ministering to the refugees and you know uh trying to fill their needs uh teach them English right to help them get a job and here in the US and um I think there's just so many different aspects of their story and kind of their path to even where they go got to with this current Ministry um there's a lot of goodness in it and I think what they have done have inspired others to take action right and that's again our hope with this podcast right as we hear the good news it inspires us and moves us to action yes yes and I have a tiny example of good news um our neighborhood have an app and some one posted say hey I have plumeria cuttings if anybody wants some you can come get it and we went and got one we have black thumbs um but it actually bloomed um and it was so joyful to see like living flowers that you were able to grow from of cutting so our neighbor could totally not share they could totally throw away anything they didn't want but they decided to go through the trouble posting it and having people come over their house and and get stuff and now we have beautiful flowers to enjoy and even so cute my husband would take one of the flowers and give it to me and that just keeps on going um so just little acts of unselfishness and sharing she can bring a smile in our day so so the good news that we're talking about is not you don't have to win a Nobel Peace Prize you don't have to invent the vaccine to solve all cancers but it is like Virginia said every day common people that the the good news is everywhere in every crevice if we take the time to look where you say smell the roses right now the rose expel the Roses so that's that's really good now I wonder maybe maybe this is me because you know I I do I do um I can be skeptical okay when I look at when I look at these these you know feel good kind of uh um media and you know are we going to be what they call pollyonic are we only going to you know just have rainbows and sunshine all day long is that what this is about um because sometimes people could find it not real what is our what could be our response should we ever ask that question be asked that question some of the most joyful moment comes after the darkest time and so for us and this podcast and frankly this Elizabeth said sets apart I think is not only we will talk about uh good news from other other sources that we hear about we will re-share uh or go in depth on certain stories uh that go much deeper in which we will cover what happened before you know of what happened what happened after um so I think um I think the depth is something we we treasure it tells the full story yeah yeah and I would even add to that that it's you know we're not looking you know the the news that some of us uh we're sharing in the episodes you know hopefully we don't leave from it that it's a happy news but that we take from it that there is a lot of joy in what was shared because of just what you said sometimes there were lows and sometimes you know it maybe it's not right at the ending it's not the the you know the dream comes true sure but there is a lot of joy in the storytelling right and that's I think the hope is we're seeing the good and the bad the highs and the lows But ultimately you can see the joy that is in it that's the door Joy is is so important right because sometimes doing good requires you sometimes to walk through um tough roads um and in some of our friends will be sharing some of the tough roads that they walk through but they do it over and over again there's got to be a driving force so I'm so curious what makes people do that yeah and there there's got to be some um dose of drawing and to make them do it right so so I think that's something we all are curious and want some of that haven't you seen people who always seem so happy serving others and doing things and you kind of want to know what is it that they got I want some of that so we're gonna go discover how people got some of that and how we can maybe yeah absolutely yeah so um I think it's safe to say um doing podcasts um video ones at that okay it's not easy to work so we're obviously putting some effort into it what's what does this podcast mean to you it in to you you and me and you know in in the team what does it mean to us individually because I think we all come in with a different um perspective because we're not you know um exactly the same so what do you what what does this mean to you yeah I'm a techie by profession and uh worked at a lot of uh techy firms um but what are some of the things that I really exercise my creative side I forgot which half of brain is the creative left left okay that was that got exercised at church when I was part of the tech team at Lake Hills Church and um uh I do a lot of uh lyric switching PowerPoint I watch the the video director switching videos I I watched the creatives creating new videos that move SQL and I even went through a conference and uh One Pastor talked about the the power of creativity or detecting uh and our mission is not to let the person come in and walk out and be the same person as nothing happened okay and um and as they come to church we had this much time to change their mind to convince them of something so the quality of our product needs to be high so for me it is an opportunity to the creative Outlet it's a creative outlet but also a way of um be a megaphone for all the good and uh you know serving God advocate for Advocate advocate for the good and also remind people they're a lot of good in the world focus on the good

how about you Virginia what does this podcast mean for me yeah um well first it's to support Larry's passion for this creative Outlet um but second I think it kind of he wrote me in because I I do like the idea of hello world both I get it from the technical per side but also from the reintroducing US uh over and over again to all the beauty that is in the world I I think that's very exciting right to be very intentional in looking for the good yeah for me um I'm hoping this is also a creative outlet for us because um I think all of us have technical um you know professions so um usually our creative side gets you know pushes it aside so this is definitely um something creative but I'm also hoping that this will move hearts because my heart has been moved just by hearing stories and by hearing the stories then you it it it it it really does inspire and now it you know we're out there doing various things and it boy it's it really fills my heart and and that feeling of doing good feels so good and I think everybody can get a dose of that feel good and and not not in the um topical medicinal you know that way but just from the inside out um and the joy that's the joy and I think um if my friends didn't share with me I wouldn't have known yeah if I didn't hear I wouldn't know to go so so this is what I hope is is that will it'll touch the heart and make us go and that that will be that will mean so much right because then can you imagine so much goodness will continue to to go around the world yeah last question um how do we you know this is just episode we call it episode zero because it's really just the origin story you cannot meet us you get to meet us and in the future you won't see many of us we will be in and out of the foreground background really the the the the story will be whoever's sitting in the red couch right the hot seat um in the red couch um so it's not we don't want this to be a spectator sport we don't want you to just sit there and watch right so how are how can um our viewers our followers engage in hello world um first connect with us we certainly can have a dialogue with you we want to hear about your story and if you want to be a part of the story or be part of the good effort um by our guests or work with us reach out to us and we'd love to talk to you and you will find out throughout many episodes there are a lot of good people doing a lot of good work and they have largely gone Anonymous and um and one thing we like to this podcast to be able to do is to be the megaphone for them to tell people all the great work that is going on so that you know as an audience and you can decide yeah maybe I want to be part of that let me reach out to that guest and we'll give you all the info and you will be able to call and participate yeah in a way it's like a connector right we share some of the great organizations or people and and hopefully it inspires our viewers to action and you know if it is what they heard that they want to get involved in we have a way to connect them or it inspires them to start a Ministry similar to this so not only can they join they can start their own or just sharing just to to know that if you are already doing something and it's not for boasting purposes but to share because sometimes a friend may not know there's a way to help and they will love to help if they knew um and and so sharing is is also a way to engage yeah um and not necessarily direct with a Hello World because we really want this to be um a point of dissemination right and then wherever it takes but we would love to hear back should it go somewhere and be helpful to um to tell it back so we can keep telling the stories that's right right and we can help each other right we tell you the good story and you make more good news and you tell that back to us and we use it to encourage even other people yes so there you have it this is how hello world got started and we hope you will join us on all of our future episodes so that we can look for all the good around us and don't forget to like our episode And subscribe to our channel so you can get notification on all future postings that we have and we just want to say goodbye for now and we'll see you next time [Music]
